CALIENT Technologies and Plexxi to Present Joint Webinar on SDN-Driven, Dynamic Packet-Optical Data Center Architecture

June 14 Webinar Will Show How Real-Time and Scheduled Events Can Drive Network Optimization

SANTA BARBARA, CA — June 10, 2013 — CALIENT Technologies, Inc., the global leader for photonic switching technology and Plexxi Inc., creator of the industry’s first affinity-driven networking solution, today announced a joint webinar where the two firms will demonstrate their joint software-defined networking (SDN) driven dynamic packet-optical data center network.

Registration is now underway for the webinar which takes place on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:30 am Pacific. This is a free event.

The webinar, part of SDN Central’s Demo Friday series, will be led by Andre Viera, Plexxi’s Director of Product Management and Daniel Tardent, CALIENT’s Vice President of Marketing

Together they will showcase the performance, scalability and low-latency of a hybrid packet-optical datacenter network consisting of Plexxi’s SDN-based Ethernet switch and CALIENT’s S320 Optical Circuit Switch under the management umbrella of Plexxi’s network orchestration and controller platform.

“Our partnership with Plexxi enables data center managers to re-think network architecture and embrace the performance and scalability of the hybrid data center network,” said Daniel Tardent, vice president of marketing at CALIENT. “This webinar is a great venue for us to demonstrate how SDN is an ideal technology for infrastructure optimization.”

Aimed at large-scale data centers, the integration of the company’s two product families leverages Plexxi’s centralized controller, which provides a network-wide view to drive forwarding behavior in hybrid packet-optical data centers.
