Press ReleasesPlease contact: CALIENT Technologies Opens European Headquarters San Jose, Calif., July 9, 2001 CALIENT Technologies, a developer of all-photonic switching systems and software, today announced its expansion into Europe, with the opening of its London-based sales and operations headquarters. CALIENTs European staff will include pre and post-sales engineers, European and pan-European business development, and will be managed by CALIENT Technologies vice president of international sales, Mike Matthys. "We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to establish an early and strong European presence in the photonic network space," said Charles Corbalis, CALIENT president and CEO. "This new operation will enable us to better serve the international carriers we expect to initiate product trials with later this year." "Our European partners and customers have an immediate need for many of the same applications we are currently testing domestically, while also demanding new configurations not yet active within North America," said Greg Partalis, CALIENT Technologies vice president of worldwide sales. "Our DiamondWave photonic switching system is ideal for applications such as DWDM junction automation, SDH cross-connect relief, and protocol independent switching applications. We are already working with several major European carriers today, and expect these relationships to result in significant commercial deployments by the first half of 2002." CALIENT plans to expand its London operations in the latter half of 2001, as the company expands engagement with major carriers in European and Asian markets.
