Positions
Quality Engineer
Location: Santa Barbara, CA (1 position)
Description:
This position is for an experienced quality engineer who will drive supplier quality programs and improve manufacturing. This individual will be responsible for internal quality including, RMA, MRB, vendor audits and vendor qualification processes. The candidate must have a hands-on style with an eye for detail. Will also be Calient’s point of contact for regulatory testing and UL site audits. Will be responsible for implementation of ISO or TL processes through certification.
Job Requirements:
Design Control: Able to define document requirements for product, process and test method verifications and validations. Work with Calient’s design team(s) writing specification, Incoming Receiving Inspection reports to ensure regulatory compliance and assures robust product vs. customer/product requirements.
Technical: Understanding of process, design and product/design verification/validation. Able to relate information to specifications, product claims and design. Demonstrates project management skills. Understands the impact of testing and process variation on manufacturability and field performance. Proficient at risk management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Necessary basic knowledge, skills, abilities and education)
- 10 years experience with moderate volume manufacturing
- 3-5 years in electro-optics or related field manufacturing
- Ability to use analytical tools and methods for problem solving
- Experience with In Circuit Testing is required
- BS in engineering or related field is required.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: (Preferred requirements that are in addition to minimum requirements)
- Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and electrical schematics is high desirable
- Knowledge of RoHS and WEEE requirements and implementation is a plus
- A strong background in ISO or TL9000 certification process is preferred
- Experience with semi conductor processing is a plus
- Background in reliability testing, FTIT rate and MTBF is also a plus
Electrical Engineer
Location: Santa Barbara (1 position)
Description:
This position is for an experienced engineer in the area of design and test of electrical circuits for optical switches, including microprocessor boards, FPGAs, serial links and power supplies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a BS in an engineering or science field
- A minimum of 5+ years experience
- 5 years PCB design and layout experience (Orcad preferred)
- 2 years FPGA programming and logic simulation using HDL
- Microprocessor board design experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Good understanding on networking, routers, TCP/IP, ethernet protocols and testing
- Understanding of analog electronics, switched mode power supplies
- Experience writing low level microprocessor or DSP code in C or C++
- Programming with a scripting language (TCL)
